I received this skirt in exchange for my review and promotion but all thoughts and opinions are 100% mine. This post also contains affiliate links.
Think about it: you know you're going to be spending a lazy day at home and what do you put on? Comfy bottoms and a t-shirt. Going out with your friends or spouse? Clothes that you love and look good in. Running errands? Definitely some flats or tennis shoes. I'll be totally honest: most days I don't feel like getting all the way put together with my make up on and hair done. I'm happy if I got to take a shower before the kids start making messes or trying to fix their own breakfast (which usually results in the aforementioned messes). But the days where I put on something that feels a little bit nicer also lifts my mood and makes me feel better about myself. One of the those "somethings" that I put on? A floral skirt.
I like to get the most use out of my clothes as possible which means that I love pieces that are transitional or that I can wear year round. Floral skirts are one of those pieces and they are quickly becoming a favorite of mine. With the variety of patterns and colors available, it's just a matter of finding one that fits your style (and lifestyle).
Today I want to share 4 ways you can style a floral skirt. My hope is that you will be inspired to look in your closet and refresh your wardrobe as we move into a new season. With the exception of this skirt, I had everything else already in my closet. I didn't buy any accessories, shoes or tops to go with it. Each outfit is one I could easily wear and move around in while taking care of my children, which for me is key, since I have them with me most of the time.
So scroll through the pictures below and see if anything jumps out at you. I've included looks you can wear to the office, meetings, church, date night, running errands or even a day at the park with your kids.

Did you find something you love? The style of skirt I got is called the Ashlyn Floral Pencil Skirt in blue (also comes in black). I love the way it fits because it allows me to move in it and it doesn't ride up at all! This particular skirt has a little bit of spandex in it and is made of a thicker scuba-like material. I am 5'9" and wear a size 5 so I got the Medium to give me a little more length.
If you've been searching for the perfect floral skirt (or just love buying more of them), you have to check out the amazing sale that Cents of Style is running this weekend as part of their Fashion Friday! They have over 10 patterns to choose from and each one is only $19.95 plus free shipping with the code: FLORALSTORY. This deal runs from today, 2/17/17 thru 2/19/17. What is your favorite way to style a floral skirt?
This is so pretty!! I never dress up anymore but I love this!
ReplyDeleteThank you Leah!
DeleteOh my gosh! I love all of these looks. What a versatile skirt. I love the idea of wearing it with a graphic tee to dress it down. I definitely wouldn't have thought of that.
ReplyDeleteThanks Leah! Funny how something so simple can completely change the look!
DeleteReally cute. My favorite was the one with the dark sweater. Good job:-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Kathy! I could easily see myself wearing that one to church or a nice dinner.
DeleteYou are a kindred spirit - I like to dress up a bit sometimes just because too! Just gotta feel girly sometimes and this skirt would do it.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!
DeleteI love it with the denim jacket!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jessica! That is probably one of the most common ways I wear it.
DeleteCute styling. That denim jacket and t-shirt styles are my favs. :)

DeleteI love that last look. It's casual but so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThanks Virjinia!
DeleteThese are so cute! I love the laid back look with the tee!
ReplyDeleteThank you Savanna! A tee is definitely a great way to give a more laid back feel to something considered more dressy like a skirt.

ReplyDeleteA white shirt is so classic. I love it!

ReplyDeleteThanks Silvia! I love how timeless jean jackets are. :)

ReplyDeleteAw, thank you Desiree! I love bold florals!
DeleteI love floral clothes! I feel like they bring joy and a lo of freshness.
ReplyDeleteI agree Cristina. They have so many patterns available that it's easy to find one (or a 100!) you love.
DeleteI love all of these looks! Your skirt is beautiful and perfect for spring.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tiffany! I love this skirt as a transitional piece and really think I could even wear it year round.
DeleteI love all four looks you did, with the third one being my favourite. It looks very comfy and will do for doing groceries or going to work.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Chantal! I imagine the third look as more of an everyday look, but could also be fun for a lunch with friends or shopping.
DeleteLove the skirt and the different ways you can style it! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThank you Janette! I hope you got a little bit of inspiration for your own wardrobe. ;)
DeleteI love every single way you styled it - I can't even pick a favorite!
ReplyDeleteComing Up Roses
Thank you so much Erica! You have such a fun style and that is a great compliment coming from you! :)
DeleteI love, love, all of these looks! I seriously want to save the pics, so I can try to recreate them... Also, I'll be heading over to see how to make that mama bear shirt. I need more graphic tees in my life.
ReplyDeleteThanks Danielle! That is such a great compliment. And yes, definitely check out the mama bear shirt! It's one of my favorite projects I've done and I wear it all the time.
DeleteWhat a pretty skirt! I like the way you styled the skirt with that graphic tee, so adorable.

Thank you Amanda!
DeleteI love a good skirt! That print is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteMe too Nili! I don't wear skirts really often so it's nice to know I can get good use out of this one.
DeleteI love each of these looks! They are all adorable.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Stephanie!
DeleteI love all of these pictures and all of these looks but especially the white button down with the black cardigan! So pretty!
ReplyDeleteThanks Justine! That was actually my husband's favorite look as well. I could totally see myself wearing that to church or a nice dinner.
DeleteMy favorite was definitely the third way you styled it! Such cute looks.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Denim is timeless but I love the updated look of a cropped jacket.
Deleteomg that floral skirt is calling my name. LOVE it! I'm rarely out of scrubs of leggings so this would be such a fun piece! I can't wait for spring!
ReplyDeleteI could totally see you in this skirt Colette! And I am seriously counting down the days to spring...
DeleteThis is such a pretty skirt! I love it paired with the white tee and cropped denim jacket!

Thanks Ellie! That is one of my favorite looks as well.
DeleteYour photos are so pretty, I like them a lot! The skirt look very cute on you and I totally love the Mama Bear shirt! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Raluca! The mama bear shirt is one I wear all the time.
DeleteI love the navy cardigan with it -- and the jean jacket is a combo I would never have considered, but it looks great!
ReplyDeleteThank you Lora! I love both of those looks a lot too.
DeleteLoving all of the outfits you put together! I found as I have gotten older I do not dress up as much. I love wearing jeans and a top. However, I may have to look in to putting a few outfits together with some skirts I have.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like them Mistle! I'm not one to really dress up often either unless I'm going to church or out on a date, but I like the ability to wear a skirt on a regular day without feeling too dressed up.
DeleteLove, love, love it paired with the denim jacket! Then the black bear tee is super cute, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteI love the bright pattern on the skirt and that it's long enough for us tall girls ;) I'm more of a leggings gal myself but you look so pretty!!
ReplyDeleteI know right? I have the hardest time finding skirts and dresses that are long enough. I am a big fan of leggings too and think I could wear this skirt with some in the wintertime with some cute booties.
DeleteI love all of the looks, but I think I like the one with the denim jacket the best.
ReplyDeleteI always tend to wear the same things paired and might just need to get a little creative with mix and matching. ;)
Thanks for the inspiration!
XO, Vanessa
I am the same way Vanessa. I've found that if I can get a little inspiration from someone else when it comes to outfits that it takes the stress away of figuring out something new.
DeleteI love all of your outfits! I always gravitate towards pieces that can create multiple outfits. I love the outfit with the pink jacket the best. So relaxed, yet business appropriate :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Rachel! :) And I totally agree. I need pieces that can be styled multiple ways so I don't waste a bunch of time trying to find outfits every morning.
