3 Reasons You Should Mail Out Announcements

When was the last time you sent or received a card or letter through the mail?  How does it make you feel to get something other than an ad or a bill?  I know that it almost always brings a smile to my face.  There's a reason people still send out wedding invitations, graduation and birth announcements and Christmas cards through the mail.  There is something about having a physical piece of paper in your hands that makes it a little more special.

This post is sponsored by Basic Invite.  As always, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

If you're on the fence about whether or not you want to send out invitations or announcements through the mail, I have a few thoughts I want to share with you to consider:

Not everyone is on social media
The digital world is literally at our fingertips.  With so much information shared on social media about what is going on in people's lives, you might think that everyone who needs or wants to know already knows.  But not everyone is online or checks their social media accounts regularly (like my grandma) or you may not be connected in the first place.

Lets people know you're thinking of them
Receiving a piece of mail from someone you know might just be the little thing that puts a bounce in your step.  I know that I love when I get something from a friend or family member, as do my kids.  A handwritten note that someone has taken the time to address, put a stamp on and mail out lets me know that they cared enough to put the extra effort in.  The same thing goes for Christmas cards or other announcements, such as graduations or births that I might not know about otherwise.

Share your accomplishments and joy with others
Having the opportunity to share our accomplishments and joy with others is a great way to reinforce all the hard work, sweat and tears that was put in to get to that point in time.  People will be excited to join you in your celebration.  And of course, if you receive a gift it's always a good idea to send a thank you card.

And that's why I think that sending out a physical piece of mail is still important, even in today's world of technology.  (Maybe that makes it even more important. *wink*)

I recently had the opportunity to order some sample graduation party invites as well as a few other samples from Basic Invite and I have to say that I was really impressed!  The paper is high quality, their website is easy to use and I received my order well in advance of the promised date.  While I don't personally need any graduation cards for 2018, I would definitely recommend anyone looking to order some to check out Basic Invite.  Additionally, they have stationary you can order, including thank you cards for graduation that match the invites you choose.  I also ordered one of these and I'll be honest, I really wanted to order more!  The paper was so nice and the color was vibrant.

Right now, Basic Invite is offering 15% off your order with the code 15FF51.  If you are in the market for graduation or birth announcements, wedding invitations or even business cards, definitely check them out!

What is your opinion on sending out physical mail?

  1. What a great eye opener! I am so bad about sending snail mail. The best I do is christmas cards and that I can't even commit to yearly. Thank you for this post and for a great perspective. I think I might just do birth announcements even though this is my fourth and I've never done them before. LOL
