DIY Dollar Store Jeweled Vases

I made these pretty jeweled vases using craft supplies that can all be found at the dollar store!
I've mentioned before that the dollar store is one of my favorite places to find craft supplies.  If you haven't taken the time to browse the craft aisle, definitely do it the next time you're there.  You might be surprised!  When I walked in last week, I didn't have anything specific in mind in terms of what I wanted to do for this month's Inspire My Creativity challenge.  After throwing a few items into my cart, an idea formed and that is how I came up with this month's craft: jeweled vases.  (And I'm not kidding when I say this is probably one of the the quickest and easiest crafts I've ever made!)

Here's what you'll need to make your own (I bought the vases, sand and diamond wrap at my local Dollar Tree):

First, open up your adhesive diamond wrap.  Grab one of your glass vases and wrap it around so you can see where you will need to cut the wrapping so it fits the vase.

Use your scissors to make a small cut in the wrap at the top of the vase, then set the vase aside and finish cutting the wrap.

Lay the vase on its side and remove the backing from the diamond wrap.  Hold the vase steady with one hand and use the other to align the wrap between the top and bottom of the vase, getting it as straight as possible.  Continue laying the wrap on the vase as you slowly rotate it until you reach the beginning.

*Note: I measured the wrap around the vase while still at the store to make sure it would fit around.  If you decide to use the same size vase I did, you shouldn't need to trim the end.  If you use a bigger vase (taller and/or wider), then you'll need more than one wrap for each vase.

I decided to fill my vases with white sand and then put a small votive candle inside but you could fill these with anything to fit your display.  These are really versatile because you can customize them with whatever color wrap you want.  I think they would also be really cute to use as part of a centerpiece for a party, shower or reception.

  14. You will see antique vases, porcelain, silver, paintings, oriental rugs and more at the antique booths. The horticultural booths will have architectural elements for the home and garden.
