DIY Dollar Store Jeweled Vases

14
I made these pretty jeweled vases using craft supplies that can all be found at the dollar store!
I've mentioned before that the dollar store is one of my favorite places to find craft supplies.  If you haven't taken the time to browse the craft aisle, definitely do it the next time you're there.  You might be surprised!  When I walked in last week, I didn't have anything specific in mind in terms of what I wanted to do for this month's Inspire My Creativity challenge.  After throwing a few items into my cart, an idea formed and that is how I came up with this month's craft: jeweled vases.  (And I'm not kidding when I say this is probably one of the the quickest and easiest crafts I've ever made!)

$3 Back To School Wreath

Easy $3 back to school wreath using dollar store supplies!
One week.  That's how long I have left until my oldest child starts kindergarten.  I'm feeling conflicted between trying to to happy for her and not to think about it, but it's hard NOT to think about it when I'm being reminded by her every. single. day. because she's so excited.  I was one of those kids who actually really loved school (including college) so I'm glad to see her feeling positive about this new part of her life.  And with all the school supplies on sale, I decided to grab a few things and turn them into something fun: a $3 back to school wreath.

A list of the top craft supplies to buy from the dollar store to save you money!
A week or so ago, I was at the dollar store picking up some supplies for the magnetic puzzle I was making when I realized how much craft stuff I buy there.  Now, granted, there are some really crappy items at the dollar store that are definitely not worth your dollar, but we'll save that post for another day.

Today I'm sharing the top 10 craft supplies I buy at the dollar store.

Travel Hack: Magnetic Puzzle

Use a dollar store cookie sheet, magnetic tape and a puzzle and you've instantly got an activity to keep your kids busy in the car!
Driving in the car.  We've all been there.  Screaming, crying kids in the car.  I think it's pretty safe to say we've all been there too.  I remember growing up and driving to every. single. vacation. we went on.  I grew up in Utah and we drove to California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Colorado, Wyoming, Arizona and Texas.  (It wasn't until I was a senior in high school that we finally took our first plane ride to Florida.)

Me and my two younger sisters shared the backseat, so inevitably we started arguing or fighting about something or other.  "Mom, she's touching me!"  "I need to go to the bathroom!"  "Stop looking at me!"  "You're breathing on me!"  "I'm bored!"  "Can we get out yet?"  We got tired of our books and games within an hour or two of the drive and the rest of the time was spent asking the ever-popular: "Are we there yet?"

DIY Dollar Store Hurricane Vases

DIY Dollar Store Hurricane Vases--Use dollar store glass vases and candlesticks to make these inexpensive hurricane vases!
When it comes to home decor, I have a hard time committing.  I can find colors that I like, but figuring out the details can be challenging.  Or I find a knick-knack that I love but I'm not sure it's the right fit for my house.  (This is probably partially due to the fact that I am still trying to nail down my own personal style.)  However, I do have a few items that I consider classic pieces.  One of these is hurricane vases.  I love them because I can easily change out what I put inside to match whatever decor I have up, whether seasonal or part of my everyday home decor.  There are various sizes, shapes and even colors to fit any style.
